This is the job most likely to cause a divorce

When it comes to making sure a marriage stays on track, most couples will do anything to make sure it works.

But what if your job could be the thing that completely kills your relationship?

A new study by US career website Zippia has analysed data and claims there’s one particular vocation that has a particularly high rate of divorce – and it’s not what you think.

While the late hours of shift work, or the fly-in-fly-out nature of miners might ring alarm bells, the study claims it’s actually military supervisors that are at the most risk of putting pressure on their marriage.

Data showed these military supervisors had a divorce rate of 30 percent, with people in this field seeing increased split rates by the age of 30.

Other jobs to watch out for include “logisticians, automotive service technicians and mechanics, followed by military-enlisted tactical operations and air weapons”, reports the New York Post.

However it’s military positions that took out three of the top 10 high-risk jobs on the list, with experts pinning the blame on the uniqueness of their job, deployment and mental issues that might arise and put strain on the marriage.

“Some of the most demanding professions can be hardest on marriage, either because of time spent away, persistent danger or insufficient pay,” Bankrate.com economic analyst Mark Hamrick told the publication.

“These challenges can certainly pertain to those who serve in the armed forces, making or either willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.”

For those employed as religious workers, speech-language pathologists, and dentists, good news – these are all careers with lower rates of divorce.
