Ten Arrested in Adani Coal Mine Protest at Brisbane Bank

Protesters who staged a sit-in at a Brisbane bank to call for a Queensland coal mine plan to be scrapped were arrested on Thursday, June 8.

At least 10 of 20 people who took part in the demonstration at the Commonwealth Bank were taken away by police, the activist group Stop Adani Brisbane said. They were demanding the bank’s board rule out funding Adani’s Carmichael Mine, arguing it could impact the health of the nearby Great Barrier Reef.

According to 9 News, the protesters were taken into custody before being released without charge, after they refused to leave the bank.
