Florida Police Officer Catches 9-Foot Yellow Anaconda

A police officer in Tallahassee, Florida, got up close and personal with a nine-foot-long yellow anaconda she successfully captured on Wednesday, October 11.

Detective Emily Shaw of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, who “has experience handling exotic snakes,” caught the snake without wearing any protective gear. A video shared to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office page shows Shaw grasping snake’s tail and gently dropping into a duffel bag.

Authorities say that they believe the snake was was someone’s pet that either escaped or was released and urged exotic pet owners to be responsible.
