Girl, 5, Raises $7,672 and Counting For 'People Who Lost Their Daddies in the Fire'

A five-year-old girl in San Luis Obispo, California, is raising money for the Wildland Firefighter Foundation after she heard about the death of Californian fire engineer Cory Iverson, who died battling the Thomas wildfire on December 14.

A clip shared to Facebook on December 18 shows Faye Segraves sitting at a table and talking about the $112 she raised “for people who have lost their daddies in the fire.” Fast forward 48 hours and Faye, herself the daughter of a firefighter, has helped raise over $7,600 through online crowdfunding.

Speaking to CNN, Faye’s mother, Kylee, said Faye was saving to buy a My Little Pony, but jumped to give money to kids of deceased firefighters after hearing of Iverson’s death.
