Diver Discovers Pod of False Killer Whales Off Isla Socorro, Mexico

John Hawkins got a rare opportunity when he went diving in Socorro, Mexico back in January 2017. He came across a pod of false killer whales drifting through the Pacific currents.

This is what John told Storyful about the amazing experience: “We heard them from far away but couldn’t hear anything as we swam into (the) open ocean. I thought it was going to be dolphins and to my surprise, it was a pod of False Killer Whales. I was nervous at first but as soon as I heard them singing and talking so much I felt comfortable and swam right up to them!” Credit: J Hawk Daily via Storyful
