Prince Harry designed Meghan Markle’s ring using Di’s diamonds
The world has been on engagement ring watch for months and now Prince Harry has finally revealed the gorgeous diamond dazzler he proposed to Meghan Markle with.
Showing off the stunning yellow gold diamond ring he designed himself and made with the help of Cleave and Company, court jewelers and medallists to Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry, 33, made sure to use personal touches to make the ring extra special.
The impressive centre stone comes from Botswana – a place that holds special meaning for the couple after they camped there together for five days early in their relationship.
“The ring is - is obviously yellow gold because that's what - her favourite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana,” Harry said in his first interview with Meghan to the BBC.
With his brother Prince William using their beloved late mother Princess Diana’s engagement ring to pop the question to Kate Middleton in 2010, Prince Harry also made sure to include his mum in Meghan’s ring as well.
“The little diamonds either side are from my mother's jewellery collection to make sure that she's with us on this - on this crazy journey together,” Harry said.
Admitting that she’s smitten with her “beautiful” and “incredible” ring, Meghan says Diana’s diamonds have made her appreciate the piece even more.
“I think everything about Harry's thoughtfulness is - and the inclusion of that and obviously not being able to meet his mum it's so important to me to - to know that she's a part of this with us,” she said in the interview.
“You know with the ring and with everything else that's going on I'm sure she's...” Harry said, before Meghan added “She’s with us."
“'I'm sure she's with us yeah, you know, jumping up and down somewhere else,” said Harry.
