Macklemore calls NRL performance his 'greatest honour'

There was a petition to stop Macklemore from performing the NRL grand final yesterday.

Thankfully, the singer pushed the rocky build-up aside and gave the performance of his life, singing his hit anthem Same Love.

The US rapper found himself at the centre of Australia's gay marriage debate after backlash from former prime minister Tony Abbott and conservative commentators unhappy about him performing the marriage equality anthem Same Love at Sunday's season decider in Sydney.

To a screaming crowd at ANZ Stadium, Macklemore finished the moving song with a simple message.

"Equality for all," he told the screaming crowd.
