Now the rapper has revealed on Twitter that the triumphant gig was a highlight of his career.
Legit, he's now Australia's hero.
The US rapper found himself at the centre of Australia's gay marriage debate after backlash from former prime minister Tony Abbott and conservative commentators unhappy about him performing the marriage equality anthem Same Love at Sunday's season decider in Sydney.
To a screaming crowd at ANZ Stadium, Macklemore finished the moving song with a simple message.
"Equality for all," he told the screaming crowd.
The dad-of-one had just days earlier announced his wife Tricia was expecting their second baby.
