A driver allegedly 'borrowed' a pal's car and abandoned it after a crash – with just a token 'apology' note.
The red Volkswagen Golf with a crumpled bonnet was apparently ditched on Saturday evening in Manchester after a collision involving other vehicles and a post.
It was accompanied by only a neatly written note on the windscreen.
"Hi Julia, so, erm, yeah. I borrowed the car. I'll leave it here for you. The keys are on the rack. Love you xxx,” the note read.
The airbags had been activated and the windscreen smashed however it appears the driver was safe enough to run off, leaving the car and the strange letter behind.
The vehicle, which was left on a traffic island in the centre of Stevenson Square in Manchester's Northern Quarter has prompted much speculation among local workers.
"There was a crash. I didn't see it but my mate did,” a barista, who wished to remain anonymous said.
"It happened on Saturday night. There were three cars and the Golf turned and hit a post or something. That's all I know."
Greater Manchester Police were contacted for comment.
