Margot Robbie's Aussie accent was 'too strong' for Neighbours

Since Margot Robbie’s stint on one of Australia’s most beloved shows Neighbours, the actress has been catapulted into Hollywood stardom.

But the Aussie golden girl is always happy to talk about her time on the show.

In a recent appearance on UK chat show This Morning, the 28-year-old admitted she actually had a dialect coach during her Neighbours days to tone down her Aussie accent.

“My Australian accent was too strong even for Neighbours,” she said. “They had to soften it a little bit.”

The I, Tonya star joked she now has a more “refined” accent after living in London for a few years.

“It did help living with a lot of English roommates,” she explained. “Now my accent’s more diluted than in used to be because my husband’s English, but we live in America.”

But the Aussie accent comes back into full swing if she comes back to Australia or she’s even talking to someone on the phone who’s Aussie.

You can take the girl out of Australia, but you can’t take the Aussie out of the girl.
