Meghan Markle freezing out friends she feels she can't 'trust'

She’s been through months of backlash from her family members following her lavish wedding to Prince Harry in May.

And now it’s been reported that Meghan Markle is finding it so hard to trust not only her family but also old friends, that’s she’s started to freeze some of them out of her life.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Cambridge, who is set to visit Australia with her husband, Prince Harry, next month, has apparently ‘lost touch’ with people from her former life after embarking on her new royal role.

“Meghan has lost touch with some of her close friends from before the wedding, which has been tough. She’s finding it hard to know who to trust,” a royal insider told People Magazine.

Her fear of stories being leaked to the press no doubt stems from her father, Thomas Markle, and her half-sister, Samantha Markle’s, constant stream of interviews about her over the past few months.

“The beginning of marriages are not that easy, but to have that impetus of your own family being disloyal is horrible and embarrassing,” the source said.

Since Meghan became a household name with royal fans all over the world, her half-sister, Samantha Markle, has branded her a ‘social climber’ and shamed her in the media for not contacting their father after her wedding.

Indeed, her 74-year-old dad, Thomas Markle, has spoken out against his daughter and her husband, telling Good Morning Britain he fears he’s being ‘frozen out’ by the couple.

Thomas and Samantha aren’t the only ones to have raised their issues with Meghan in a public forum.

The Duchess of Sussex’s former agent, Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne, also said that Meghan ‘instantly brings you into her world’ but will freeze you out the moment you bring any ‘negativity’ her way.

“One day we were having lunch on the Strand in London and it was obvious it was getting very serious with Harry,” Gina said in an interview with the Mail on Sunday.

“I said: ‘This is serious. This is the end of your normal life, the end of your privacy – everything.’

“But she just held up her hand and said: ‘Stop. I don’t want to hear any negativity. This is a happy time for us.”

Meghan’s childhood friend, Ninaki Priddy has also spoken out about how she lost contact with the former Suits actress, claiming it was after she moved to Canada and decided to divorce her first husband, Trevor Engelson, which Ninaki didn’t agree with.

“All I can say now is that I think Meghan was calculated — very calculated — in the way she handled people and relationships,” Ninaki said in an interview with the Daily Mail.

“She is very strategic in the way she cultivates circles of friends. Once she decides you’re not part of her life, she can be very cold.”
