The Sun has calculated that the Duchess of Sussex has spent a whopping $285,000 on just 16 outfits since tying the knot with Prince Harry two-months-ago.

That list includes her $50,000 royal tour of Ireland wardrobe, with the Duchess only being in the Emerald Isle for a grand total of 24 hours.

Meghan Markle’s impressive wardrobe includes dozens of designer pieces, including the $7,500 Givenchy dress she wore to Ascot, the $7,000 Oscar de la Renta floral number she wore to Prince Harry’s cousin’s wedding and the $7,100 Givenchy dress she wore for her first solo outing with the Queen.

Who could forget the $2,800 khaki dress she wore to Prince Louis’ christening, or the $1,500 Philip Treacy fascinator she wore to the Trooping of the Colour ceremony.

Indeed, Meghan’s expensive taste for designer goods has since been compared to her sister-in-law’s, Kate Middleton’s, penchant for high street goods.

During her first few months as part of the royal family back in 2011, Kate was often spotted sporting pieces from brands such as Zara, Reiss. L.K Bennett and Hunter boots.

It endeared the public towards the Duchess and she soon adopted the nickname ‘thrifty Kate’.

Meanwhile, the newly-crowned Duchess of Sussex has taken a different path with her wardrobe choices since joining the royal family in May.

According to reports in June, Meghan Markle has already cost Prince Charles $2.5 million in the short time since she has become a Windsor, with funds coming from Prince William and Prince Harry’s hereditary estate, the Duchy of Cornwall.

Figures show that the amount the Prince of Wales spends on funding the activities of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry increased by 40 per cent when the 36-year-old arrived on the scene, the Telegraph reported.

Prince Charles paid $8.8 million for Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate last year, compared to the previous year where they spent $6.3 million.

The increase of $2.5m suggests the Duchess of Sussex hasn’t come cheap.

This spending was said to have increased at the end of 2017, when Harry and Meghan became engaged, and was thought to have been put towards her public engagements as his new fiancee.
