Melania gives Donald the cold shoulder as he leans in for a kiss

They’ve been plagued with marriage rumours for months now, after two women claimed they’d had an affair with the president, but Donald and Melania Trump tried to silence everyone at the White House today.

The 48-year-old Slovenian-born first lady and her 71-year-old husband, held a Mother’s Day event to honour the spouses of military employees.

And while French first lady Brigitte Macron may have called Melania a virtual prisoner in her own home just two weeks ago, the FLOTUS smiled and embraced her husband on the podium – however she did give him the cheek when he leaned in for a peck.

Speaking at the event, Donald went on to praise his wife for becoming a ‘popular first lady’ during their time at the White House.

“Thank you very much Melania, she’s become a very, very popular first lady,” the Daily Mail reported Donald starting off his speech.

“I’m reading all those stories and they love Melania.”

Melania smiled at her husband as he mentioned her name but when it came time to having a kiss on the podium, she appeared to turn her head and give him the cheek, while holding on to his arms.

Their public outing together comes after French first lady Brigitte Macron commented on Melania’s place in the White House, saying she feels like the first lady is ‘constrained’ at home.

“She can’t even open a window at the White House,” Brigitte told Le Monde.

“She can’t stick her nose outside. She’s much more constrained than I am. Me, every day, I’m out in Paris.”

Brigitte clearly got along well with Melania when she visitied the White House at the end of April and described her as ‘kind, charming, intelligent and very open’.

“She’s a woman with a lot of character but tries to hide it,” the French first lady told the publication.

“She laughs very easily about everything but shows it less than I do.”

In January, porn star Stormy Daniels gave a bombshell interview where she claimed she had sex with the President of the United States.

Just weeks later, ex Playboy model Karen McDougal claimed she had a 10-month long affair with Trump between 2006 and 2007.

Melania was said to be ‘hiding out’ at the couple’s Florida mansion until the public interest in the story died down.
