It’s the shock hospitalisation that’s made headlines around the world after it was confirmed Melania Trump is now recovering after undergoing surgery for a kidney condition.
The first lady underwent the surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, with her spokesperson revealing the procedure went well.
“This morning, first lady Melania Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition,” Melania’s communications director Stephanie Grisham said in a statement.
“Mrs. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week.”
While most would have expected Melania’s husband Donald Trump to be by her side, reports claim the POTUS remained at the White House during her surgery.
The President later tweeted as he flew on Marine One to visit his wife.
Heading over to Walter Reed Medical Center to see our great First Lady, Melania. Successful procedure, she is in good spirits. Thank you to all of the well-wishers!

However while the Twitterverse was flooded with messages of support and love for the first lady, others didn’t hold back as they questioned why the POTUS had left his run to the hospital so late.
