Sydney real estate agent Melissa Hatheier has become our latest Aussie hero after a video surfaced showing her lifting a shark out of a pool with her bare hands.
She was filmed wrestling a predator out of the Oak Park Rock Pool at Cronulla on Monday, joking that her mum initially called Triple Zero for help.
Her mum had spotted the shark in the pool and but when she saw it was a little Port Jackson she thought it would be fine.
“God love her she rang 000 and the police got there and didn’t know what to do, so I thought you know what we could herd him into the shallows,” she told Kyle and Jackie o on radio this morning talking about her now viral effort.
Clearly not one to mess around, she follows the animal, she wraps her arms around it and hoists it out of the pool and back into open water.
“I thought I had to help him, I put my knees on either side of his fins and I just picked him up – it was like picking up a little kid,” she explained.
This is definitely the kind of stuff that tends to do the rounds overseas but she even joked that it was really all just part of her job.
“I’m a real estate person and my job is to relocate people into their dream home. So essentially, I was just doing my job. I put him into an environment he was happy,” she said.
Clearly not afraid of much, Melissa revealed she’d love to go on the show Survivor.
“That’s what I want to do, we watch that show so that has crossed my mind,” she said.
“I feel like I could help people catch more fish, it seems like they’re always eating coconut.”
What an audition tape!
