Models shock in duct tape bikinis

When it comes to the catwalk, limits are meant to be pushed.

But one designer has left people in shock after displaying his latest designs — which are made entirely of black tape.

A series of models strutted their stuff at New York Fashion week in the jaw-dropping outfits, which have been created by designer Joel Alvarez as part of his Black Tape Project.

The unconventional attire — which literally consists of strategically-placed duct tape — raised eyebrows yesterday, with some social media users calling the outfits “degrading” to women.

“This is misogynistic degrading “so-called” fashion! How can NY fashion week support this?” one person wrote on Twitter.

“This is how low we have drifted,” one said. “Even animals aint (sic) this low.”

But while some are up in arms over the less than traditional clothing, others thought the idea was rather forward thinking.

“This is so crafty,” a commentator said, while another hailed the look as “arty”.

Regardless of the mixed reactions, the models themselves seemed pretty comfortable in their barely there bikinis.

One wore a striped number which resembled Borat’s infamous ‘mankini’ that neatly covered her modesty.
