So what is Jay’s secret to viral video success?

Speaking to Be, the New-York-based storyteller says focusing on a particular target audience is the first step, and then it’s about identifying how you can “fulfill the need” of that group.

“The key is to create content that really fulfills a need and serves people,” Jay tells Be.

“Either it makes them laugh, moves them to tears or motivates them to make a positive change in their life; it needs to provide value.”

For Jay, who has been recognised on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Class of 2017 Europe for being a game-changer in the world of media, his goal’s been to make “wisdom go viral”.

“I wanted to share wisdom at the pace we want entertainment,” he explains, adding, “88% of successful people say they devote 30 minutes or more each day to self-education or improvement through reading”.

“As an avid reader, I wanted to make wisdom go viral by sharing ideas in an innovative, relevant, dynamic and applicable way.”

Having relocated from London to New York once his viral video platform took off, Jay has an array of experiences under his belt that have helped shape his new direction, in terms of career and the content he produces.

After graduating from business school he became a monk, dedicating his time to meditation, teaching and charity work, before pursuing his current path as a motivational and corporate speaker.

“I wanted to combine the experiences I gained from studying behavioral science at business school with living as a monk for three years and a strategist at Accenture for the same time,” he explains.

“I'm fascinated with the confluence between ancient wisdom, modern science and media. What you see in my videos is a snapshot of my mind and thoughts.”

As for his target audience, it’s actually quite broad.

“I genuinely believe my audience is anyone and everyone because the messages are timeless and universal,” Jay tells Be, but acknowledges his passion for reaching the “younger generations”.

“I am very grateful that the majority of people who connect with my work are from younger generations.

“I want to help young people navigate the noisy world we live in today and find their true purpose so that they can use their talents to become conscious change-makers in society.”

Jay has already interviewed big names of the corporate world, but is now keen to collaborate with game-changers in the entertainment industry.

“I'd love to collaborate with Kevin Hart or Selena Gomez,” he says.

“I'd love to share some life lessons with a comedic edge which Kevin would be incredible at.”

Meanwhile he’s drawn to 25-year-old singer and actress Selena “because I truly believe she shares some powerful messages with her fans and I'd just love to get to know her more.

“DJ Khaled would be awesome too because it's all about the keys!” he laughs.
