This mum was kicked out of church for breastfeeding
A mum has been left fuming after she was asked to leave a church service because she was breastfeeding.
Amanda Ziliken was nursing her four-month-old daughter at the back of Elevation Church, in North Carolina, when a volunteer asked her to relocate to the bathroom.
‘To take me to the mother’s restroom was totally unacceptable, humiliating – and illegal,” Amanda told the Charlotte Observer.
According to reports, Amanda tried to explain to the volunteer that she had every right to breastfeed where she was but didn’t get anywhere.
She eventually posted about the incident on Facebook, sharing an image of the bathroom where she ended up in.

“I just got kicked out of church for breastfeeding with a cover on and directed to the bathroom ..... Shame on you Elevation,” the mum posted alongside the photo.
In North Carolina, women are permitted by law to breastfeed in public, covered or uncovered, and so her post attracted a lot of attention.
Including that of Ariel Tauro, a breastfeeding activist, who helped Amanda to organise a ‘nurse-in’ during a service this week.
