Taking to online forum Mumsnet, the mum claims she only started hating her daughter’s name after she sent her little one to school.

“I gave her a name which, I thought, was very original as I hadn’t heard another girl called it in about 20 years,” the mum explained.

“Only to find when she started nursery another girl called the same but spelt differently. [My daughter] is due to start full time education in September and there will be 2 other girls with the same name so 3 in the class.”

Claiming she’s “totally hacked off and really upset” but how “common” her daughter’s name is, the mum is reveals she had the same experience with five girls sharing her name at school, which saw her changing it as soon as she could.

Despite the mum’s concerns, most people couldn’t believe the mum would want to change her daughter’s name at her age.

“Are you crazy! She’s 4! You can’t change her name,” raged one.

“Ridiculous. Don’t give your daughter a complex about this,” scoffed another commenter.

Meanwhile, others were a little more sympathetic to the situation.

“Of course you can change her name,” wrote one. “She’s only 4, but do it before school. I’ve changed [my child’s] name, absolutely fine. And a friend changed her son’s name just before he started school.”
