Mum posts note with a very unusual request

A mum-of-two has caused a stir online after asking if she could borrow someone’s orange cat for two days.

The woman, who goes by the name ‘ryusomad’ on chat forum Reddit, posted the ad so her four-year-old and two-year-old kids could experience having a lasagna dinner with a Garfield lookalike cat.

The Oklahoma mum said she has no intention of adopting the animal and will return it ‘happy and cared for’.

“Wanted: to BORROW an orange car for 24-48 hours, to have a lasagna dinner with Garfield-loving 4-year-old and 2-year-old children,” the mum said in the post.

“Cat will not be required to eat lasagna if contraindicated.”

She went on to plead with people not to put ‘feral cats’ forward and asked to ‘please take your cat back at the end’.

“An increasingly desperate (but not crazy) mom-of-two with no friends that own orange cats,” she signed off the post.

However, her seemingly harmless post was met with some angry comments from cat-lovers, who thought it wasn’t fair on the animal to have it move to a new house for one or two days.

“I was just thinking about how much a cat won’t go for going to a strange home. It’s just going to hide under a bed or something for the entire duration,” one person said.

“This person has no idea how cats work. The minute they sense you want them to do something, that thing becomes the last thing on earth they’ll do. What we’ve got here is a recipe for upset children,” another person said.

The dad then commented on the post saying they had found a person who was willing to give them their cat for two days.
