Mummy blogger dies giving birth after IVF battle

A well-known mummy blogger has died after going into cardiac arrest during her labour.

Spanish mum to be Vanessa Fernandez Arango had amassed thousands of followers through her pregnancy battle, documenting her lengthy IVF journey on Instagram.

But at 38 weeks along, the 30-year-old fainted while eating brekkie and was rushed to hospital where doctors were forced to perform an emergency c-section.

Tragically, son Alvaro survived the early delivery, but mum Vanessa didn’t.

Husband Jonathan Garcia took to her social media page last week to announce the news, according to El Mundo.

“This is Vanessa’s husband. They have carried out an emergency caesarean,” he wrote.

“The baby is in intensive care. Vanessa has died. Thank you all for making her laugh.”

The couple had battled with numerous fertility troubles, including two ectopic pregnancies.

However Vanessa fell pregnant through IVF earlier this year, revealing the happy news in May to her followers with a photo of a positive pregnancy test.

“The beginning of the end. The beginning of feeling life and the end of suffering,” she wrote alongside the image.

“So here begins our story, our story with a happy ending.”

Over the next months she shared bump photos and snaps of baby items such as clothes and nursery supplies that they’d excitedly purchased.

Since losing his wife, Jonathan has been keeping her devastated followers updated with Alvaro’s progress, describing it as “something positive” to come from his loss.

“Alvaro is recovering little by little, he still has many tests and will continue for a while in intensive care, but it’s a little step.

“I never imagined a goodbye message in her honour would have led to such an avalanche of support… I want you to know I will continue with her dream of helping other couples.”
