Debate online after mum 'smacked' her kid in public

An outraged mum has stirred up a debate online after she witnessed a mother ‘smacking’ her child in public.

The woman claims the child looked around two-years-old and the mother “smacked her on the bottom three times, really hard”.

However after saying she thought the mum was “weak” for hitting her child rather than “disciplining her with words”, other mother’s jumped to the mum’s defense.

The woman’s post, which has since been delete, was inundated with comments, after she asked if she should have intervened as the “poor bub started crying” and she saw it as “abuse”.

“I think three smacks on the bum is overboard but I wouldn’t go as far as saying abuse,” one woman said.

“I don’t think it is wrong for a child to have the off sack n the bum for bad behavior.”

Others defended the mother and said people shouldn’t be so quick to judge.

“I think you have no idea what kind of day she has had, what the child did, or what she is going through personally and so I don’t think you really have the right to say something or to judge her for that matter,” one woman said.

“Mums have enough on their plates without added judgment from strangers. I’d try minding your own business and worryning about your own child,” another mum said.

“Goodness me. Maybe you need to get off your high horse. We have absolutely no idea what lead up to this happening or indeed what is happening in their lives. You saw a snippet. Maybe next time give a reassuring smile and offer support not judgment, “ a commenter said.
