Naomi Watts, 49, hits the beach in Baywatch-style swimsuit

Just like the rest of us, Naomi Watts knows there’s no better way to beat the heat than by hitting the beach.

The 49-year-old Hollywood star was spotted enjoying a day by the water in with her two kids Alexander 'Sasha', 10, and Samuel 'Kai', nine, on Thursday.

Dressed in a red one-piece that would do Pamela Anderson proud, the mum-of-two mingled with locals and tourists in Byron Bay, on NSW’s north coast, while her sons splashed around in the water.

While her fire-engine red swimsuit was enough to turn heads, Naomi kept a low profile in shades and a hat, but she wasn’t on the beach to sunbake.

Getting right in the thick of it, the actress was seen playing with her boys, helping them to handstands, and even practicing a little acrobatics herself.

She pulled off her own handstand and a few push-ups, before kicking the ball around with the kids.

Naomi's brother Ben also appeared to be joining in on the fun with his stylist girlfriend Gabriela Langone, and some friends.

Byron Bay is a hotspot for New Year’s Eve revellers as it plays host to the popular Falls Festival.

A sell-out 25,000-strong crowd descended on North Byron Parklands to ring in the New Year.

Meanwhile Naomi dedicated her New Year’s Eve to another special Australian actor, Simon Baker and wife Rebecca Rigg.

Posting a photo of the couple to her Instagram account, Naomi wrote: “26 years strong... they’ve done good. #lovebirds #simonbaker#rebeccarigg #happybirthday#happynewyear”.

Naomi and the kids also spent Christmas in Australia and shared a special photo of the three of them beside a Christmas tree with the caption: “HAPPY, HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone!! Wishing for a fantastic 2018”.

The actress announced her split from the kids’ father Liev Schreiber, after 11 years in 2016.
