She was delivering the breaking news as per usual for NBC on Tuesday night, when reporter Natalie Pasquarella discovered it was time to deliver something else.

The newsreader's water broke while she was on air, just as she giggled during a segment about Twitter's proposed new character limit.

Colleagues helped the television star get to hospital as soon as possible, and she gave birth to a beautiful boy 13 hours later.

Natalie has named her newborn son Jamin James Pastore.

She later shared a photo of her and her husband with their little bundle of joy, along with the caption: "A beautiful blessing decided to make his entrance early! Thankful for all of the well wishes. Our hearts are full! #BabyJ #JaminJames #SoInLove #babyboy #love".

That will surely be a story to tell Jamin all about when he grows up!
