Passenger hides in cockpit, charged with trespassing

Stowaways usually try to hide on planes before they take off, rather than when they’ve landed – except for one US man.

NBC New York reported that the passenger was found hiding in the cockpit of a JetBlue flight from the Dominican Republic which had landed at John F Kennedy International Airport in New York.

Ground crew reportedly discovered the New Jersey man sitting by the window in the cockpit.

JetBlue told NBC that the 26-year-old was a passenger who had not left the plane with the rest of the passengers, but had managed to get into the cockpit unnoticed.

The man reportedly opened an alarm door while being escorted off the plane, but was unable to escape.

He was taken to hospital for observation and released into police custody.

CBS New York reported that the man, who it named as Jarrett Stroud, has been charged with criminal trespassing.
