First look at Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe's new film

The trailer for Boy Erased, starring Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe has just dropped, and boy does it look sure to be a tear-jerker.

The Aussie stars play a religious, conservative Southern American couple struggling to deal with their son’s sexuality in the new film based on Garrard Conley’s memoir of the same name.

Actor Lucas Hedges plays Gerrard, who at just 19 endures a heartbreaking experience of being sent to a special camp to “fix” his sexuality, after being given an ultimatum by his parents.

Though the movie — which also stars and is directed by fellow Australian actor, Joel Edgerton — isn’t hitting the big screen until November, fans are already calling it an Oscar contender on social media.

Nicole, 51, bagged an Academy Award in 2003 for her part in The Hours while 54-year-old Russell took home best actor in 2000 for Gladiator.

While we still have several months until we get to witness Boy Erased for ourselves, we given it’s gut-wrenching storyline we definitely think it’s safe to say you’ll need your tissues.
