When you think of the name Santa, you normally think of an older, rotund man with white hair and beard, dressed in a red suit and giving out presents one night of the year.

If, on the other hand, your name is Victoria Beckham, apparently you think it's a pretty name for a girl. Or not.

The Sun newspaper is credited with publishing the rumour that Victoria Beckham wanted to call her daughter the traditional Spanish name, 'Santa.' Reports suggested that the unusual name was inspired by Santa Monica near Los Angeles in the US.

The mother-of-three boys is due to give birth later this year to her first daughter, and apparently had her heart set on the name.

"Posh thinks Santa Beckham has a lovely ring to it and wants something unique," The Sun reported, adding: "David prefers something traditional, but will probably go along with what she chooses."

But before you scream 'How could you,' rest assured, fine readers, that this is in fact false.

"This is simply tabloid nonsense," Posh Spice's representative told

The power couple, who married in 1999, are known for choosing unusual names for their children, with their three sons given the names Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 9, and Cruz, 6.

Victoria appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week, revealing one of her sons had an interesting idea about naming his unborn sister.

"[We] said to the boys, 'Give us some ideas,'" Victoria told the host.

"When we [first] got told it was a boy, my middle son Romeo, he was like, 'How about Justin Bieber as a name?' Justin Bieber Beckham. So now that we know it's a girl, he's like, 'Well how about Justine?'"

Santa or not, it's likely that whatever the Beckhams call their daughter, it's going to be highly unusual.
