Olivia returns to spotlight amid cancer battle
Olivia Newton-John has been pictured for the first time after admitting to using medicinal cannabis to help her through her breast cancer battle.
The Grease star was spotted arriving in Melbourne hand-in-hand with her husband John Easterling looking in good spirits.
Olivia admitted last week that she will be championing the use of medicinal cannabis while she is in Australia.
“I will do what I can to encourage it. It’s an important part of treatment, and it should be available,” she told News Corp.
The 68-year-old has said she uses the drug – which is legal in her home state of California – and it’s helped her during her second fight during her second fight against cancer.
Her daughter Chloe Lattanzi is a big advocate for medical marijuana usage and recently moved to the US state of Oregon to start a business in marijuana farming with fiancé James Driskill.
Chloe confirmed back in June that her mum would be using CBD oil to treat her cancer.
“Cannabis has scientifically proven properties to inhibit cancer call growth,” Chloe said in an Instagram post about her mum earlier this year.
A preview for her emotional chat on 60 Minutes was released earlier this week and has been billed as the “interview of the year”.

Olivia admits how hard the secondary cancer diagnosis has hit not only her, but also her family.
“Of course it’s scary,” she tells Karl Stefanovic. “I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t scary but I intend to be healthy.”
In May she told fans she would have to postpone her tour dates in Canada in US after discovering she had secondary breast cancer in her spine.
