The pregnancy tradition Meghan Markle will have to shun

She may have had a fairytale engagement and a lavish wedding fit for a princess, but if Meghan Markle were to fall pregnant, she would have to shun an age-old tradition.

While there has been no indication that the 36-year-old Duchess of Sussex, who turns 37 on August 4th, is even thinking about having kids anytime soon, experts are already talking about how she’ll celebrate the news when she does decide to start a family.

According to royal expert Victoria Arbiter, royals don’t throw baby showers because it would be seen as ‘inappropriate’.

The family are ‘very wealthy’ and therefore, a lavish baby shower would be ‘seen as highly inappropriate’ as ‘there’s nothing they can’t go out and buy themselves’, she told The Sun.

It’s believed that Kate Middleton didn’t have a baby shower when she was pregnant with any of her three children, despite her large circle of friends.

Indeed, the royal family have a strong stance on accepting gifts from anyone outside the fold, with Meghan and Harry reportedly returning over $12m worth of presents they received for their wedding.

Instead, the royal newlyweds requested that any company or member of the public who wished to send their regards, do so by donating to charity.

Likewise, Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly have had to hand back over $53m in gifts they received from the public following the births of their three adorable children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
