Orbiting is the creepy new dating trend you need to know about

First, we had ‘ghosting’, then ‘zombieing’ but now there’s another dating trend you need to know about – and it’s almost more frightening than all of the others.

The new term called ‘Orbiting’ is making break-ups probably even more excruciatingly awkward than they ever were.

Before social media, people broke up, cut ties and if they wanted, they never had to hear or see each other ever again.

However, now nobody is safe from carrying on with their lives, as ‘orbiting’ allows exes to hang around forever.

Writer Anna Iovine, who writes for Man Repeller, came up with the term for people who keep you “close enough to see each other; far enough to never talk.”

For example, people you used to date can now look at your Instagram stories and their name will appear underneath your views, however you may never actually hear from them.

‘Orbiters’ also like photo on your feed or on your Facebook page, even if you’ve completely moved on.

According to Man Repeller, ‘Orbiters’ are doing it as a power play move, so they can stay in your life but make no contact.

Or else, they are just not that technologically savvy and have no idea you can see that they’ve viewed each and every single one of your stories.
