Outrage as royals tell guests to 'bring their own food' to the wedding

It’s set to be the wedding of the year, packed full of Hollywood’s elite and the who’s who of the royal family.

And while 33-year-old Prince Harry and 36-year-old Meghan Markle have asked 1,200 members of the public to share their big day with them, the guests have been left baffled by a bizarre detail on their invitations.

Palace officials are said to have sent out letters to every member of the public on the guest list, which includes charity workers and community members, to tell them to bring their own food on the day.

The whole event is expected to take about four-and-a-half hours, and while guests will no doubt be delighted at seeing the royals tie the knot right before their eyes, there won’t’ be any food available for the guests to buy.

Speaking to the Guardian, Saeed Atcha, who founded youth magazine Xplode, said the whole thing was ‘unfathomable’.

He went on to say that some of the kids his charity helps out couldn’t understand where the royals thought they were going to get the money for the picnic from.

“I am of the same opinion. It’s unfathomable,” Saeed said.

“There’s a McDonald’s, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to bring in a filet meal.

“Maybe there will be a U-turn.”

The move comes after Kensington Palace released a statement, revealing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were inviting people from ‘every corner of the United Kingdom’.

“The couple has asked that the people chosen are from a broad range of backgrounds and ages, including young people who have shown strong leadership, and those who have served their communities,” the statement read.

“200 people from a range of charities and organisations which Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have a close association with, including those which Prince Harry serves as Patron.

“100 pupils from two local schools: The Royal School, Great Park, Windsor and St George’s School, Windsor Castle – both of which have a strong affiliation with the Windsor Castle community.”

The highly-anticipated wedding is set to take place in just 15 days’ time, on May 19th, with avid fans set to come from all over the globe to catch a glimpse of the loved-up newlyweds.
