Man's rude reaction when date says she's a mum

A single mum was left completely shocked after being shamed for having a baby on a dating app.

Chloe Hawke, from the UK, had been chatting to a man – whom she refers to as 'Chris from Devon' - on online dating app Plenty of Fish for a couple of days when she got a response she was not expecting.

The two had been getting along well, with Chris showering her with jokes and praise, and as they moved the conversation towards a date, Chloe started talking about her one-year-old son Noah.

Despite having written that she’s a mum in her profile bio, Chris reacted rudely to the news, saying: "You wipe your child's ass when he's had a st? Fk being with someone who cleans someone's ass."

The 21-year-old is now speaking out about her experience to tell other mums that being a parent is part of who they are and something they should be proud of – despite what 'immature' daters out there might try to make them think.

"We spoke for a couple of days, telling stupid, funny jokes and then he said 'you seem interesting, tell me more about yourself',” Chloe explained, “As soon as I said I was a single mum, that's when he said it.”

"The tone turned completely. He replied: 'You wipe your child's ass when he's had a st? Fk being with someone who cleans someone's ass.'

"As soon as he said that he was an utter a**hole in my eyes. I blocked and deleted him straight away.

"My description clearly states I have a child so he obviously didn't read that. Anyone who doesn't respect me as a mother is just not worth my time.

Plenty of fish dating

Chloe, who works as a photographer, had decided to sign up to the dating platform after several friends had success and developed long-term relationships from online sites.

Admitting she was 'still young', Chloe had already enjoyed talking to some other users before meeting Chris.

"Being a single mum, I've been solely set on raising my son over the past 15 months, but I'm also 21 – I'm still young. So I just thought I'd download [Plenty of Fish] and see what
happens,” she said.

"I've heard some good stories and a lot of people seem to meet potential partners on dating sites.”

Online dating fails

Now Chloe is urging other young mums to keep their head up and never give up on meeting the right man.

"Honestly, one person doesn't signify how everyone else is, but it shows there are immature people in this world. You just have to fish through them unfortunately – it's a process,” she said.

"My general message to other young mums is that even though you're a mum, you're still you.

"Someone will fall in love with you and respect you, it just takes time. I believe it takes longer when you're a mother because you have your head screwed on and you don't fall for the immature ones.”
