Mum's $5 Kmart lunchbox hack

If your mind’s already ticking over to back to school gear, we’ve got the perfect hack to make lunchtime easy.

The rough and tumble of a kid’s backpack often means their morning tea and lunch goodies have smashed together in their lunchbox by the time the school bell rings, but one mum has the ultimate solution.

Amanda shared her cheap but effective Kmart hack on Instagram last year and it’s as simple as fitting an extra-large ice mould inside of your child’s Tupperware container.

The sections of the mould act as an instant bento box, meaning you can keep their crackers, cheese and fruit separate throughout the day.

And the best thing is that it can all be purchased with a $5 note!

Amanda used Kmart’s $1.50 ‘giant ice cube tray’ with the sides trimmed down, inside of a $3.50 ‘rectangular 600ml clip container’.

She added that she also found the mould and containers at Target and the Reject Shop.

Another popular Kmart hack doing the rounds on social recently is this wooden cubby house that parents have been painting and re-decorating.
