Pink opens up about sudden sickness on stage

Pink has returned to the Australian leg of her ‘Beautiful Trauma’ tour, thanking her fans for being so understanding after she was taken seriously ill last week.

The singer cancelled four concerts last week after being rushed to hospital with a suspected bout of gastro.

But on the weekend she took to the stage at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, apologising to 20,000 fans in the room — and the thousands more that were affected.

“I hope I didn’t screw up anyone’s week … Sorry if I did,” the singer told the audience.

The mum of two then went on to thank everyone for their patience, especially the doctors at St Vincent’s Hospital.

“Thank you guys for being here tonight. I’m not contagious, I swear,” she laughed.

“You don’t want to kiss me — it’s not safe,” she continued.

On Wednesday, Pink took to Instagram to explain why she’d been forced to cancel three dates of her Sydney shows, revealing that just 20 minutes before she was due on stage for soundcheck on Monday, she was struck by an “excruciating pain”.

“We were absolutely planning on going ahead with the show, and about 20 minutes before I left for soundcheck, I was rushed to the hospital, in excruciating pain,” she wrote on Instagram.

Hi beautiful Sydney people. First, I want to say thank you to all of the kind people out there for your well wishes for my speedy recovery. On Monday, we were absolutely planning on going ahead with the show, and about 20 minutes before I left for soundcheck, I was rushed to the hospital, in excruciating pain. That was the reason for the late cancellation. It was out of anyone’s control, and of course, wasn’t planned that way. I was discharged from hospital last night, and am following doctors orders of liquids and rest. A lot of you know how physical my shows are, and that I don’t just stand in front a microphone and sing. I flip, dance, fly, harness, silk, and scream my way through a total shit show of awesomeness (no pun intended). Therefore, I need to be physically healthy and well in order to perform this show. I think all of you deserve the full show and me at my best. Our next show will be Saturday, and until then I will be drinking green tea, and spending time with my kids. That’s a warning to paparazzi, you might actually see me walking upright outside of my hotel room cage with two little children, and another warning: I might even smile. Not too much, though. I’ll try to control the smiling. My sincere apologies to any of the ticket holders that this has affected, the rescheduled dates will be announced today. Thank you for your patience, compassion, and support. I look forward to rocking out with all of you as we have done for many many years. All of my love. Pink I also want to thank the amazing doctors and nurses at St Vincent’s Hospital for taking such good care of me and getting me home to my kids.

The 38-year-old was released from hospital but upon doctors, decided to rest until Saturday, causing her to miss a fourth show on Thursday 9th.

“A lot of you know how physical my shows are, and that I don’t just stand in front a microphone and sing,” she explained. “I flip, dance, fly, harness, silk, and scream my way through a total sh*t show of awesomeness (no pun intended).”

Rescheduled concert dates

After picking up the world tour over the weekend, the singer has rejigged some of her dates to provide new shows for those whose tickets were cancelled last week.

Most of the new dates are now in September, but the August 3rd performance is scheduled to happen on August 24. The rest will happen on September 17, 18 and 19.

As a result, her show in Brisbane on August 23 has been moved to August 22.

“Thank you for your patience, compassion, and support,” she wrote.

Outrage turned to concern

While initially the shock hospitalisation outraged some fans, most were concerned for the sick star.

Judging from the reactions of the attendees on Saturday and Sunday, it seems Pink’s comeback was a huge success.

Just days before she was struck down, Pink was seen enjoying some downtime with her husband Carey Hart and their daughter Willow in Byron Bay at ‘The Farm’.
