Nikki Phillips prepares to give birth after cervical cancer battle
Kiwi model Nikki Phillips is counting down the days till she gives birth to her first baby boy, after enjoying a "miracle pregnancy" following a battle with cervical cancer.
Taking to Instagram this week, the 33-year-old shared a photo of herself with her large baby bump on show, along with the caption, "To be honest, I've packed and unpacked my hospital bag over six times!!".
She also shared another snap of herself a relaxing spa treatment, informing fans, "My body has certainly been feeling this final week of pregnancy, so to end the week like this was such a treat".
Back in April Nikki revealed she and husband Dane Rumble were expecting a little boy, and the runway sensation has cherished every moment of her pregnancy.
The beautiful baby news comes after Nikki was diagnosed with stage three cervical cancer a few years ago, discovered during a routine pap smear.
The cancerous cells were removed, but the model wasn't sure if she'd ever fall pregnant.
"We wanted it so badly. We’ve watched everyone with children and I love my husband so much — he was okay if we couldn’t have kids — but all I thought about was if I can get half of his genes with my baby well I feel incredibly blessed," she told the Wentworth Courier earlier this year.
In a recent blog post, Nikki opened up about her pregnancy journey, and some of the things she didn't realise she'd experience in the nine months.
"I’ve had a few complications during this pregnancy from low iron, low plaitlets to having to have anti D shots due to blood type on top of your normal glucose test, flu vac, hooping vac etc," she wrote.
She also admited she's had nose bleeds, digestion issues and 'developed a hernia' during that time.
Also writing about some of the positives, including the highlight of feeling her bub 'kick', she penned: "One of the most incredible sensations ever! Feeling your little one kick, wriggle and hiccup is truly heart warming.
"Sure there are times when a foot will make it up under your rib and cause serious discomfort, but that’s your little ones foot inside you belly, you just put up with it."
All the best Nikki, we can't wait to see some cute snaps of the bub!
