What are you doing to get ready to have your baby?
No special techniques of preparation are necessary (the baby will come regardless!), but getting and staying in good shape can prove helpful. Labor and birth are very physical and may require strength and stamina. Aerobic conditioning, lower body strength, and some upper body strength will help you to move around in labor, push out your baby, and recover from birth.
If you already work out, any combination of aerobic training and strength training is good. If you are out of shape, it is not too late to start walking or swimming and strengthening your arms and legs to prepare for giving birth.
Talk to your doctor or midwife for more information about getting and staying in shape for birth and beyond.
