Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are usually the royal rule breakers in the family but it turns out Prince William and Kate Middleton have been flouting protocol for years now.

The 36-year-old Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who have three adorable children together, tied the knot in a historic ceremony at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011.

The world swooned over their fairytale day, which saw them take a carriage ride through the streets of London and dance the night away at Buckingham Palace.

However, it’s now been revealed that the royal newlyweds broke protocol on the day, by not flying off on their honeymoon straight after the reception.

Instead, the loved-up duo spent the night in Buckingham Palace and were pictured the very next day holding hands as they made their way across the palace lawn.

They did head off to the Seychelles about 10 days after the nuptials, which isn’t uncommon for couples these days.

It’s believed they shacked up in South Africa for a week, before heading back to the UK to carry out official business.

Likewise, Princess Diana and Prince Charles waited for all their wedding mania to die down a few days before boarding the Royal Yacht Britannia, bound for Gibralter.

When the Queen and Prince Philip married in 1947, they spent the night of their wedding on their honeymoon in Hampshire.

Their daughter, Princess Anne, also left for her honeymoon to the Caribbean the night of her wedding to Captain Mark Phillips.
