Will Eugenie still be a princess after her royal wedding?

It’s the life she’s always known after being born into the royal spotlight, but Princess Eugenie could be about to make one huge change after tying the knot to her wine merchant fiancé Jack Brooksbank on Friday.

Reports in the lead up to the wedding suggested that Jack might be given the title of Earl of Northallerton after the couple’s nuptials, but this may not be the case.

Jack Brooksbank likely won’t get a title

Her father Prince Andrew has previously denied asking the Queen for his future sons-in-law be given an ‘earl’ title.

With Jack – who is a member of one of the wealthiest family’s in the UK – likely to remain a ‘commoner’, insiders say Eugenie’s fiancé’s lack of title could make her re-evaluate her own.

“Eugenie couldn’t care less about titles and is perfectly happy to be Mrs Brooksbank,” a source told the Daily Mail.

Will Eugenie still be a princess?

Post-wedding, Princess Eugenie’s official name is said to become ‘HRH Princess Eugenie, Mrs Jack Brooksbank’, with Woman & Home claiming she could be given the option to keep or get rid of her title.

While the princess has yet to officially reveal what her decision will be, the report claims “it’s thought to be unlikely that she will get rid of her HRH title.”

It’s not the first time a royal’s romance has forced them to re-think their role.

Princess Ayako of Japan made headlines after revealing she was leaving the imperial palace to marry commoner, Kei Moriya.

Last year, Princess Ayako’s cousin Princess Mako shunned her royal status to wed her college sweetheart Kei Komuro.
