Princess Eugenie's a royal rule breaker, and the Queen's not happy

While the fab four of Britain’s royal family are constantly in the spotlight, Princess Eugenie quite often flies under the radar.

That’s probably a good thing for her though, considering she has taken to breaking quite a number of royal rules over the years – and one of them in particular is really bugging the Queen.

Meghan Markle may have shunned a bunch of royal regulations before marrying Prince Harry, but her first public appearance after becoming the Duchess of Sussex was picture perfect. And she will no doubt learn more and more along the way.

The Princess of York on the other hand, has been a royal since birth, so you would expect she knows what is expected of being a member of the royal family.

Her biggest struggle seems to be with the royal dress code. Especially the ‘low hemlines and modest neckline’ rule, according to Cheat Sheet.

Eugenie constantly chooses dresses, like at Harry’s royal wedding and the recent garden party at Buckingham Palace, that are not ‘below the knee’.

She’s also been spotted in miniskirts and leather dresses over the years , as well as sporting plunging necklines.

But one particular choice is really not sitting well with the Queen and that’s Eugenie’s reluctance to wear tights.

There was major hoo-ha after Meghan stepped out after her engagement announcement to Harry without wearing nude stockings, but even she had taken to wearing them during her first public appearance with Her Majesty last month.

Despite it being one of the Queen’s most steadfast rules, Eugenie seems to skip the stockings when she can. She didn’t even wear them at Harry’s wedding.

The princess is also a fan of bold makeup and crossover bags, also apparently big no-nos.

And to make sure that everyone can see what she’s up to, Eugenie is one of the few royals with an Instagram account. She made her own Instagram account in March 2018, and she already has almost 170,000 followers.

Eugenie will marry her fiancé Jack Brooksbank in October this year, so it will be interesting to see how many royal wedding rules she decides to ignore for her big day.
