The Queen's sweet birthday message for Meghan

They firmly cemented themselves as one of our favourite royal duos when they stepped out together in June for their first solo appearance in Chester.

And it seems the Queen feels the same way about the iconic moment, picking a photo from that exact trip to wish Meghan Markle a happy birthday on Saturday.

A message from Her Majesty to the Duchess of Sussex was posted to the royal family’s official Instagram account, on the newest member of the clan’s 37th birthday.

“Happy Birthday to HRH The Duchess of Sussex! #HappyBirthdayHRH,” it read.

Meghan spent her first birthday as a royal attending the London nuptials of Prince Harry’s best friend Charlie van Straubenzee and his bride, Daisy Jenkins.

Prince Harry and Charlie attended prep school together as kids and have been inseparable ever since.

It’s believed Charlie was an usher at Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle and gave a speech at the Frogmore House reception.

His older brother, Thomas van Straubenzee, is also best mates with Prince William and was even his usher at his wedding to Kate Middleton.

Thomas also gave a speech at the wedding, straight after Prince Harry and is one of Princess Charlotte’s godfathers.

At the wedding over the weekend, the Duchess wore a striking, colour-blocked Club Monaco pleated dress.

Unfortunately, one of the buttons undid itself outside the church, revealing Meghan’s black lace camisole underneath.

She matched the dress with a black, leather MiuMiu belt and a pair of Aquazzura heels.
