The real reason behind Fergie and Prince Andrew's split

The second son and third child of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Andrew, married Sarah Ferguson in a fairytale wedding in 1986.

However the fairytale wasn’t one to last, as a decade later the couple announced they were divorcing.

Despite being surrounded by all the privilege and perks of royal family life, Sarah – nicknamed Fergie – admitted they parted ways due to the trials and tribulations which also came along with it.

In a resurfaced interview from 2010, Fergie revealed from the get-go she and her husband were living very separate lives.

“My deal was that I was marrying my man, who happened to be a prince and a naval officer,” she explained US TV host Ernie Manouse at the time. “But what I got was not the man, I got the palace and didn’t get him and the courtiers told me I had to go to Buckingham Palace and he had to go to sea.

“For our [entire] marriage, I saw him 40 days a year.”

Fergie admitted in the interview if she and Andrew could go back they both would “play it differently” when it came to their marriage.

“And maybe we have still been together because we would have said ‘no’ to being separated just after our wedding,” she said.

During their 10-year long marriage Fergie and Andrew had two daughters together, Princess Beatrice, now 30, and Princess Eugenie, now 28.

The pair have also remained firm friends despite having divorced over 20 years age and reportedly still live together at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

The Queen Mother lived at the residence for 70 years until her death in 2002, and Prince Andrew moved in officially in 2004.

It’s believed Fergie, 58, and their two kids joined the Duke of York in 2008 and she has been living there ever since.

“Sarah Ferguson still rules the roost at the Duke’s home — even though they’re divorced,” a source previously told The Sun.
