The real reason why Meghan Markle keeps wearing pink to royal events

She may have every designer knocking on her door with extravagant outfits, which no doubt come in every colour.

But for some reason, 36-year-old Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, keeps picking clothes that are a soft, blush, pink, for her royal engagements.

The former actress was pictured with her husband, Prince Harry, yesterday at the Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall in London for a tour of the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition.

According to experts, the pastel hue is ‘calming’ for the Duchess and also is the colour of love.

“The number of high profile engagements Meghan has had since officially becoming a member of the royal family would no doubt be quite nerve wracking,” colour psychology practitioner
Karen Haller told the Daily Mail.

“As the softer end of the pink spectrum is physically soothing, it’s the perfect antidote to calming those nerves and easing the pulse rate.

“Soft pinks communicate the nurturing, compassionate, caring side of love…I’m not at all surprised she is feeling this way given the body language between her and Prince Harry – and she is reflecting this in picking the softer pinks.”

And despite being slammed for her extravagant $285k wardrobe yesterday, the Duchess showed the haters she doesn’t care what they think of her spending, by wearing a $1,100 creation yesterday.

She matched the sleeveless dress with a pair of $925 Dior shoes and a $1065 clutch bag by Mulberry.

Meghan’s expensive taste for designer goods has since been compared to her sister-in-law’s, Kate Middleton’s, penchant for high street goods.

During her first few months as part of the royal family back in 2011, Kate was often spotted sporting pieces from brands such as Zara, Reiss. L.K Bennett and Hunter boots.
It endeared the public towards the Duchess and she soon adopted the nickname ‘thrifty Kate’.

Meanwhile, the newly-crowned Duchess of Sussex has taken a different path with her wardrobe choices since joining the royal family in May.

According to reports in June, Meghan Markle has already cost Prince Charles $2.5 million in the short time since she has become a Windsor, with funds coming from Prince William and Prince Harry’s hereditary estate, the Duchy of Cornwall.

Figures show that the amount the Prince of Wales spends on funding the activities of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry increased by 40 per cent when the 36-year-old arrived on the scene, the Telegraph reported.

Prince Charles paid $8.8 million for Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate last year, compared to the previous year where they spent $6.3 million.

The increase of $2.5m suggests the Duchess of Sussex’s introduction to the family hasn’t come cheap.
