Is this the reason why Nic and Tom split?

It’s been seventeen years since Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise split.

But the reason behind their abrupt breakup has never been clear, with neither of them discussing what happened.

For years there have been rumours that Tom’s faith in Scientology played a key part, especially as his subsequent marriage to Katie Holmes also broke down for that reason.

Now though it seems there’s a new theory behind their relationship breakdown, after Australian TV star Kerri-Ann Kennerley shared her thoughts on the subject.

“I still think that Eyes Wide Shut with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman spending 18 months being pschyo-analysed by [director Stanley] Kubrick, I reckon that was the undoing of their marriage,” she told the Daily Mail Australia.

“If you like someone, you’re in love, you have a good time.. don’t overanalyse it,” Kerri-Anne added.

As Kerri-Anne pointed out, Eyes Wide Shut was released in 1999, eight years after the pair married.

But the Mission Impossible star filed for divorce from Nic not long after in February 2001, citing “irreconcilable differences” and requesting full custody of their adopted kids Connor and Isabella.

The Aussie TV host gave her incredible theory on whilst comparing her own marriage with hubby John to the former Hollywood power couple.

While Tom and Nic split after 11 years, Kerri-Anne and her man have recently celebrated their 34 year anniversary, something that was even more meaningful after the “catastrophic” accident in 2016 that left him a quadriplegic.

Explaining that their secret to success is to “communicate” with one another, she explained that analysing each other was something they never became guilty of.

“Neither of us have been into that analysing and breaking down and talking over and over about relationships and all that sort of stuff,” the Specsaver’s ambassador told the publication. “Because sometimes it’s just like, don’t over-analyse it.”

Nicole, 51, has since found love with country singer Keith Urban and the pair have two daughters together, Faith Margaret and Sunday Rose.

Meanwhile Tom has been linked to a string of famous ladies since his third marriage to Katie Holmes — who he shares eight-year-old daughter Suri with — ended in 2012.
