The reason Prince Charles didn't eat on MasterChef
His Royal Highness, Prince Charles’ appearance on MasterChef Australia was highly anticipated by the whole nation.
Whilst the heir to the British throne was extremely charming, many viewers were left rather confused by his stint on the show.
The royal didn’t chow down on a single item of food.
So Royal week was just an excuse to have Charles on camera, and he ate nothing. #MasterChefAU

Did Charles even eat the food? #MasterChefAU

One switched-on viewer pointed out it may be down to the “many rules” the royals have when it comes to food.
Wonder if the royal family can’t eat stuff. Because they have so many rules. #MasterChefAU

A very good point, indeed.
There are a few rules royals need to follow when it comes to what they can and can’t eat, like they’re generally banned from eating shellfish due to the risk of food poisoning.
Another viewer put Charles not eating anything down to his “royal taster” having the night off.
Prince Charles couldn't eat those canapes sorry because the royal taster had the night off. 😂 #masterchefau pic.twitter.com/uuCebLPL9U

Is there such a thing as royal taster?
Queen Elizabeth does have a royal taster according to Irish chef Kevin Dundon, who told People he had to whip up two special meals in 1992 for the monarch and her taster.
However, it’s not clear if Charles has this luxury too.
Maybe the Prince of Wales just didn’t have any appetite, or he simply wasn’t caught on camera eating.
