The reason Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sent Georgie Gardner a letter

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are due to visit Australia later this year, and it seems they already have a local Aussie pen pal ahead of their visit.

Georgie shared the royal surprise she received on the breakfast show on Thursday morning.

So, why did the royal couple send the 48-year-old a personalised letter?

To say thank you for her “incredibly thoughtful wedding gift”.

As many will know, Harry and Meghan requested no wedding gifts but Georgie just couldn’t help herself and got them a little something.

The presenter gave the newlyweds a neoprene picnic rug printed with a landscape of Cape Leveque in Western Australia.

The personalised thank you letter to Georgie read:

“Dear Georgie,

“We wanted to write and thank you so much for the incredibly thoughtful wedding gift. We are both delighted that you would think of us during this special time and greatly appreciate your kindness.

“We apologise for the delay in getting this letter to you, but as you can hopefully understand it has been a very busy time for us!

“Thank you again for your kind gift; we are incredibly touched.

“All the best, Harry [and] Meghan.”

It’s safe to say co-host Karl Stefanovic was very jealous.
