Why did Rebel Wilson go against her word for this Vogue cover?
It’s no secret that Australia and the US have a very loud and proud love affair with Rebel Wilson and to be honest, we are all about her too.
However, this new Vogue Australia cover has us scratching our heads. Doesn’t it go against everything she’s ever said about body positivity?

One thing we’ve always loved about “our” Rebel is the fact that she has a certain kind of self love and confidence that we all wish we had.
The Pitch Perfect actress has always shown that loving the skin you’re in and being unequivocally YOU is the secret to a successful life and to that we say PREACH!
But for this new cover, while she looks incredibly beautiful, it’s the way Rebel admitted she got “cover ready” that is concerning us.
When a Twitter user called out Vogue for photoshopping the pic, Rebel responded:
Nope, not slimmed down! I just ate healthy and exercised for the month before the shoot x but then immediately after ate brownies!

“Nope, not slimmed down! I just ate healthy and exercised for the month before the shoot x but then immediately after ate brownies! [sic]”
Ummm, Rebel, we applaud you for changing your patterns and eating healthy and exercising, but doing it just because of a cover shoot and then eating brownies after?
That is NOT promoting a healthy way of life.
Why conform to what you think Vogue wants from you? What about what YOU want from you.
The cover itself promotes you as being ‘funny and fabulous’ and ‘winning battles’ – and that is who you are. FABULOUS. So why change your appearance?
Oh and just so you can see the raw v’s the magazine shot, I took a monitor photo myself on the day of the shoot! So please don’t carry on that these shots are heavily photoshopped because they’re not! pic.twitter.com/7DcgO4hZ3a

In an interview in 2013, Rebel told ET Online:
“I don’t think I’m very vein… Even though I’m on a TV show, I don’t really care what I look like that much and I think women out there should be happy by the way they look.”
“I don’t really try to conform to any stereotype,” she continued. “Be happy and hopefully healthy.”

THIS. This is what Rebel should still be promoting.
Rebel, we want to see you as you are. Naturally beautiful, voluptuous, owning the skin you are in and above all, being the confident, intelligent role model we all love.
Here is a reminder of what you told Cosmopolitan in 2015:
“I wouldn’t ever want to compete with what I call ‘the glamours’ — the really gorgeous people. I’m about the brain, the heart and what’s on the inside. I feel really lucky to be the body type I am.”
PREACH Rebel. Preach. This is what you need to remember – just be. BE YOU.
