Rescuers Work to Free Humpback Whale Beached at Sawtell

A juvenile whale became stranded at a beach on the northern New South Wales coast on Friday, June 9. Marine rescuers were at Sawtell Beach attempting to rescue the whale, which was found stranded at about 7 am, the Daily Telegraph reported.

A crowd gathered at the beach to watch the rescue efforts and provide support, as seen in footage published by Anita Strother at about 10 am.

The ABC reported that the tide was going out, making it difficult for the young whale to breathe.
