Robin Williams' daughter Zelda breaks down in emotional video

Zelda Williams has bared her emotions in a candid video shared with her Instagram followers.

On Thursday (US time) the 29-year-old daughter of late actor Robin Williams posted two brief clips, in which she let her tears roll down as she opening up about coping tough times in a world where social media often paints a perfect picture of life.

“So because most of what winds up on this site tends to be the best version I guess of what everyone wants to see,” she began. “Hi, welcome to the other side of it.

“Today really sucked and it’s funny because I get asked about how I cope a lot and I don’t know if it sinks in to people when I say, ‘I take it day by day because you have to’.

“You really do, there is that genuine thing of there’s [like] tomorrow and I’m sure I’ll be better then and you just keep working at it,” she continued.

The actress said that while many often think they know the reason you’re having a tough time, it’s often something else that’s causing pain.

“Most of the time it’s not the thing that you think it is that’s of [when] people have a bad day,” she explained. “It’s little things, it’s other things.

“It’s something else that makes them feel hopeless and I hope that you guys, whatever version of this app that you see, [it] doesn’t make you feel worse about yourselves because what you’re seeing is a really tiny facet of anyone that you see whether that’s an actor or your friends.

“You’re seeing a little tiny piece and it might make it seem like they are all doing better than you but that’s not the case. No one person is what they present in this kind of a world. It’s not how it works.”

Fans applauded the star for wearing her heart on her sleeve, and said they could relate to how Zelda felt.

“Sending you a hug. I don’t know you and I hope you feel better tomorrow. I too have lots of bad days but I always think tomorrow will be better for me,” one follower wrote in the comments section.

“I’m so sorry you had such a bad day. Thank you for sharing and showing that we are all human and We all have hearts that sometimes get broken,” another penned.

Zelda’s world changed in August 2014 when her father Robin Williams tragically took his own life.

In an interview with Teen Vogue in 2017, Zelda opened up about the importance of speaking about mental health, admitting, “I, of course, was depressed after everything happened [when my dad died]”.

I work very hard at reminding myself that happy is a job. There are people who it is very easy for, and who will never understand what that suffering is like — and that’s arguably part of the discussion about mental illnesses,” she said.
