This woman’s outfit got her rejected from an interview

A young woman has been left humiliated after going to a job interview in what she thought was a polished and professional outfit.

Rosie Reilly had spent an hour getting ready that morning and was dressed in a long-sleeved button-up shirt and black skirt when she arrived at London chemist chain Boots.

She was taken in to speak to the interviewer but noticed that they didn’t seem all that enthusiastic.

“The interviewer asked some general questions about what I’m doing at the moment and what previous jobs I’ve had,” she told Metro.

“After scribbling some notes down, she said: ‘The second half of the interview takes place on the shop floor. However I don’t think that you’re dressed conservatively enough to go on the shop floor, so we’ll arrange to do the second part of the interview another day’.”

Completely taken aback by her response, Rosie held things together until she got on the bus home.

“I left the store slightly bewildered. It wasn’t until I was on the bus that what had happened suddenly hit me and I burst into tears,” she said.

A man on the bus had complimented her on her hair, which was rolled into perfectly formed curls on top and shaved on the sides, and triggered her built-up emotion.

After posting about her ordeal on Facebook, Rosie has been inundated with plenty more compliments from kind-hearted strangers, and word even got back to the Regional Operations Manager at Boots who wrote her an apology letter.

“We encourage a diverse workforce and feel that this situation does not represent us. What is most important to us is what you bring to work, and how you care for our patients,” they said.

“It is with deep regret that you left our practice feeling as you have done.”

They went on to offer Rosie another interview at a different branch is she was still interested in the job.
