She’s taken to royal life better than her new husband Prince Harry could have hoped, but while we’re loving every second Meghan Markle is in the public eye, the former actress is facing much more opposition behind closed doors.
In a sign Meghan has a much harder battle when it comes to winning over the royal inner circle, one of Prince Charles and Camilla’s old friends has turned his nose up at the Duchess of Sussex and her roots.
When asked about his thoughts on the royal wedding that took place in May, interior designer Nicky Haslam hit out at Meghan’s upbringing and the scandal that took place with her father Thomas Markle’s pulling out of the nuptials at the last minute.

“They’re frightfully common. It would have been awful if that huge lump [Thomas] had been there,” Nicky reportedly told the Daily Mail.
Nicky, who went to Eton with Prince Charles and socialised with Princess Diana, also slammed Meghan’s choice of dress saying it was ill-fitting and seemed to be “made of concrete”.
While Nicky didn’t make it onto the guest list for the star-studded event, he claims Meghan’s family no doubt caused serious headaches for the royals – except for one person, her mum, Doria Ragland.
“The royals probably don’t quite know how to deal with them,” he said. “One person who wasn’t common was her mother.”
Nicky’s claims come following reports Meghan hasn’t spoken to her father in months, with the relationship beyond repair.
“Talk about [a] loose cannon,” royal biographer Andrew Morton told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“He makes a lot of wrong decisions, and he made a big wrong decision shortly before the wedding.”
“There’s a gap that will not be bridged.”
