Royal photographer spills on 'exhausted' Harry and Meghan's shoot

Weddings are exhausting, as any married couple will attest to.

But throw in the added pressure of royal protocol and the billions of eyes watching your every move, and you can imagine just how knackered Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were after they said ‘I do’ on May 19.

Now their wedding photographer Alexi Lubomirski – who was the apprentice of Princess Diana’s favourite snapper Mario Testino – has revealed just how rushed those beautiful professional images were, after he worked with the newlyweds moments after they tied the knot.

“We went out there and had about three and a half minutes to take some quick shots because everything was running like clockwork,” he revealed.

Proving you don’t need hours to capture that special shot, Alexi said, “It was just one of those magical moments when you’re a photographer and everything falls into place.”

“I said ‘just before you go in, sit on those stairs.’ And she just slumped between his legs and there was this moment where they were just laughing because they were exhausted and thinking finally it’s all over.”

After an hour-long ceremony at St George’s Chapel, the newly titled Duke and Duchess of Sussex went straight from the church doors to a carriage ride around the town of Windsor, before heading back to Windsor Castle for their photoshoot with Alexi.

Keeping to a tight schedule, they attended a lunch-time reception hosted by the Queen at the castle, and later headed off to a more private evening reception hosted by the Prince of Wales at Frogmore House – but not before a quick costume change.

It’s a wonder that after such a jam-packed day, not to mention the stressful lead up to the wedding, that Harry and Meghan were able to look so serene at their first post-wedding public appearance on Tuesday.

But then again, it’s just the start of what Meghan’s life as a senior royal will be, after all, fellow royal bride Camilla attends 300 official events a year.
